How long is the period that you can't write to someone in basic training?

I have a dear friend in basic training for the National Guard. He sent a letter saying that starting in July, I can't mail him anything. How long is it until I can send him letters again? I'm sort of anxious to know so it makes it hard for me to wait for him to write me. Two weeks or something? Or until the basic training has ended?
