I Need a action anime that mindfucks you?

Neon Genesis Evangelion is a good one. The middle part of the show is pretty straightforward (with lots of action), but towards the end it turns into some kind of colossal neo-biblical-freudian mindscrew. The End of Evangelion movie doesn't help clarify things any.
